1001 Update June 2009

Moving on fairly swiftly with the challenge now, 40 down and so I am well on the way to 52 books off the list.

Had a few books sent to me through the 1001-Library as well as picking some up along the way.

Three Gothic Novels: The Castle of Otranto, Vathek, The Vampyre The first 2 are on the list, bonus! Good to read some books from the earlier section on the list.

Another big thank you to tabby-cat-owner for supplying me with more 1001 books: The Kingdom of This World ,The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano: Written by Himself (The Bedford Series in History and Culture) ,Kokoro ,Snow ,Brighton Rock

After reading Atonement, I have been trying to read all of the other McEwan books on the list, and have crossed off another couple: The Child in Time & The Cement Garden

Finally read some of the 1001 books I brought with me:

To the Lighthouse, A Clockwork Orange (Essential Penguin) & The Stone Diaries (The Perennial Collection)

I grabbed El extraño caso del Dr Jekyll y Mr. Hyde at the 2009 Bookcrossing Convention, a book I had never read.

Got a few more to read, should have more time to read during the next month as am teaching in the afternoon/ early evening:
Morvern Callar

Three sent to me by Vasha from the States:
The Garden of the Finzi-Continis
The Wings of the Dove I have been wanting to read this ever since I read a book about the fire in the Fenice.
Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon I recently read Dona Flor and her Two Husbands, and wanted to see what this other book of Amado's was like.

Mrs. Dalloway - a free book with the Times Newspaper.
