Bookcrossing in Argentina

First stop, Salta.  After a VERY long and gruelling 24 hours, we made it from Bolivia to this lovely town in NW Argentina.  We lucked out with our hostel, relaxed, central, friendly staff and a book exchange (though it is 2 for 1).  We then spent 24 hours in Buenos Aires, before I headed to Uruguay, the hostel had a book exchange, but nothing that exciting in it.

Dropped off at Hostel in Salta:
1. Memories of My Melancholy Whores
2. The Trail to Titicaca: A Journey Through South America , travel book
3. Comrades in Miami , rather convoluted spy thriller
4. The murder of Roger Ackroyd a 1001 reread
5. My Summer of Love
6. Valkyrie Encounter
7. Jaguars and Electric Eels
8. The Cranford Chronicles, 1001 book

Picked up (in two batches)
1. Past Imperfect - I have this TBR at home, but this'll bump it up the list
2. Book of Sand & Shakespeare's Memory - local writer
3. The Bell Jar, 1001 book
4. The Dubliners
5. Madame Bovary , 1001 book

At Hostel Suites Obelisco, I exchanged Book of Sand & Shakespeare's Memory The Billionaire's Vinegar

1010 Challenge: Completed!

As I really enjoyed the 999 Challenge organised by Librarything, I signed up for the 2010 version, or 1010 Challenge.  The idea was to read 10 books in 10 categories with the added bonus option of 20 books for 2010.

My ten groups were:
Group 1: 1001 books.
I am still hard at working my way through the list, so thought it made sense to add it in here.  In the end, I read 45 1001 books over the 10 groups (and bonus group).

Group 2: Books related to Spain and the Spanish speaking world
Last year I had a similar catergory for Portugal, really expanded my reading.

Group 3: British Writers
This includes Irish writers as the 1001 list I have lists both nationalities together.

Group 4: Books not written in English
Should be practicing my languages, as I was living in Portugal and taking a Portuguese course, most of these were in Portuguese.

Group 5: Travel
my favourite hobby

Group 6: History (fact or fiction)

Group 7: Myths and Legends
Myths, legends, fairy tales.

Group 8: Made into a Film
(originally - Classics I should have already read)  A lot of these were 1001 books, which I snuck in to another category.

Group 9: Olympic Challenge
Bookcrossing Challenge to read a book from each country taking part in the Olympics before the London 2012's opening ceremony.  Over all I read 27 from the different groups.

Group 10: Asia
I tend to read a lot of Asia-themed books and so have a mound of them on my TBR pile, and I think I have finally made a dent in my TBR pile.

Bonus Books:
10x 1001 books:  Harder than I thought as I was travelling and at the mercy of book exchanges.
10x Olympic Challenge books

I have already signed up for the 11 in 11 Challenge, just need to wait for 11 November to start it!  I am, once again, going to be an early bird.  One thing I really enjoy about these challenges is the flexibility, in categories, in start dates, etc.
